Obtain a Gemini API Key

  • To avoid API call rate limits with a shared key, participants will use their own Gemini API key during the competition

  • Hackathon organizers’ key will be used for scoring

  • Participant keys will be encrypted and stored in a browser cookie, the organizers will not be able to view them

  • New Gemini users get a credit for free API calls

  • A credit card can be added for additional spend with configurable limits

  • The total cost to participants should be less than $25
